“I just want to feel calm and present.”
When trauma lives in your body, it doesn’t stay in the past. Maybe you keep having thoughts that hijack your day or disrupt your sleep. Maybe you feel like you’re here, but not really. You might find yourself avoiding people, second-guessing decisions, or lying awake with a tight chest and a head full of worry.
This isn’t about being broken. It’s your nervous system doing its best to protect you. But now, it’s keeping you stuck.
At Open Door Therapy Group in Austin, we help you slow down, reconnect, and feel more like you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
Some of our therapists are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, and Aetna.
If we’re not in-network with your insurance plan, don’t worry, you still have options. We offer a limited number of sliding scale appointments based on financial need and therapist availability.
We’re also happy to verify your out-of-network benefits and submit claims on your behalf, making the reimbursement process as simple as possible.
If you prefer, we can provide a monthly superbill, which is a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Depending on your plan, you may receive partial or full reimbursement for your therapy sessions.
How do I get started?
We offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so you can ask questions and see if we’re a good fit. From there, we’ll set up your first session and begin working together at a pace that feels right for you.
What is your cancellation policy?
We strive to provide exceptional care while respecting the time of both our clients and therapists. If you would like to cancel or reschedule your therapy appointment in Austin or anywhere in Texas, please provide 24 hours notice. To cancel, you can contact your therapist through the client portal, call us at 512-956-9786, or send an email to admin@opendoortherapygroup.com.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will be charged a $100 fee. That said, we’re open to reviewing special situations on a case-by-case basis.
How often will we meet, and how long will therapy last?
We usually recommend starting our work together on a weekly basis and then spacing sessions out as time and goals are met. With weekly sessions, we are able to get to know one another more easily, build momentum, and create the changes you are hoping to see more quickly.
The length of time you’re in therapy depends on your needs and goals. Therapy is a journey we go on together to determine the pace that is best for you. Meeting weekly is not a requirement. We follow your lead while also encouraging you to uncover the skills and potential you already possess.
Do you prescribe medication?
Prescribing medication is not in our scope of practice, but we are more than happy to provide referrals to psychiatrists who can help you take the next step if you’d like to explore that option.
